Blackburn Rovers are reportedly keen on signing Middlesbrough's Dael Fry if he leaves as a free agent. The 28-year-old defender has been linked with several Championship clubs, including Burnley and Sheffield United. Fry has spent his entire career at Middlesbrough, making 296 appearances for the club across all competitions. However, his contract is due to expire at the end of the month, and he could soon walk away for free. According to the Northern Echo, Blackburn could look to engage Fry in talks if he departs Middlesbrough as a free agent. Rovers recently appointed former Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray as their new head coach. However, both Fry and Middlesbrough are said to be confident over fresh terms being agreed. Boro boss Kim Hellberg is a huge admirer of Fry and the defender's experience could prove invaluable next season. Fry is not the only Middlesbrough academy graduate seemingly facing an uncertain future. There is plenty of speculation surrounding midfielder Hayden Hackney, who has a raft of Premier League admirers. Everton were recently reported to have entered talks over a deal for the 23-year-old, although are not thought to have got close to Middlesbrough's valuation. As a result, negotiations between the Toffees and the Teessiders are said to have grinded to a halt. Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, and Brighton & Hove Albion have all been reported as admirers, as have Leeds United.
